KayChess. Train smarter.

KayChess is a training platform focused on tactics, visualisation and opening drills, with some one-of-a-kind features not available anywhere else. It's really a passion project of mine - I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Customizable Tactics

Real Games Tactics

Customize training sessions by rating and themes - train exactly where your weaknesses are. Get an explanation of how you should have approached the position. Save presets for your favorite training setups. Automatically create fixed sets of puzzles to practice over and over again, similar to the "Woodpecker" method (coming soon).

Visualisation Drills

Visualisation Drills

The single most effective drill for calculation depth and your board-in-your-head ability. The position you see is several moves behind the puzzle - play the lead-up moves in your head, then solve from the imagined position. Adjustable difficulty, with optional warm-up ramp that starts shallow and builds up. Hard but rewarding method for any chess improver.

Forcing Moves

Forcing Moves

A simple but often overlooked drill: given a position, find all checks, captures, and threats (including pins, discovered attacks and forks) for you, the opponent, or both sides. Builds the habit of scanning for forcing moves before calculating - the best way to refine your board vision.

Blunder Check

Blunder Check

You see a position and candidate moves. Which one is the blunder and which one is the best move? Train your defensive awareness and learn to spot danger before it's too late. And yes - taking the Knight is a lossing blunder.

Opening Builder

Opening Builder

Build and train your opening repertoire with a twist. Import, create, organize by chapter, annotate, and drill lines until they're second nature using spaced repetition. Automatically check repertoire soundness for a preselected rating range. Suggest rare or tricky winning moves in a line (coming soon).

Review every session and every puzzle easily. See progression, accuracy trends, time spent, and which themes give you trouble. Revisit past mistakes and turn them into strengths. Start a review session replaying all of your past wrong puzzles several times to drill a missed pattern. Receive training advice based on your performance. Great for both coaches and ambitious improvers.
